NICOLE & ABNER - THE WEDDING!

One of the perfect views of Los Angeles and a perfectly made custom wedding gown and a couple that everyone loves so dearly are just some of the things that make Nicole and Abner’s wedding one of our favorites that ended our 2015 wedding season perfectly.

We had the honor of working with Abner’s brother a year and a month prior to Nicole and Abner’s wedding (Ivy and Aaron’s wedding can be seen here), so it was like working for our own family when it came to working on the couple’s BIG DAY.

Nicole and Abner’s simplistic and modern wedding was set atop the USC Building in DTLA in the prettiest navy, gold and blush pink palette. The couple brought in lots of details throughout the wedding that truly exemplified their personalities: Blue Bottle coffee as a nod to the groom’s hometown in San Francisco, and a prescription guest sign in to signify the bride’s career.

One of our favorite details was the bride’s custom made wedding gown by Atelier by Dawn, which was also named one of the top prettiest dressed in 2015. We posted a photo of the bride walking down the aisle with her father and immediately had several direct messages that asked where the bride purchased her dress.  The bride was a stunner in the dress, and the couple looked absolutely stunning together and on the rooftop during sunset.

Nicole and Abner, I love you both so much and cannot express how much fun it was to work on your wedding that created so many head turning details. That dress, your family and the love you two share with one another is breathtaking!

KAILIN & ART - THE WEDDING!

Never before have I ever watched a single episode of Game of Thrones, but after meeting Kailin and Art, and knowing their absolute love for the hit T.V. show, I was bound to learn a thing or two (or 50) in a single meeting with the couple.

I knew right after I met with the couple that it was going to be a perfect match. I loved their fun personality and positive outlook on everything. The couple had a strong love for Halloween, and it wasn’t just because the groom proposed on Halloween dressed as Jack Skellington, so it was only appropriate for us to have their wedding near Halloween. The couple chose the beautiful Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California for their grand setting.

We incorporated subtle hints and tidbits of Game of Thrones in their wedding details, such as a watercolor design of the iconic heart tree from the show, a ring boy banner with the phrase “Wedding is Coming,” table names with each of the houses, and a custom made “heart tree” from where guests pulled their escort cards.

My favorite part of the wedding was receiving a text from the bride the morning of the wedding saying how nervous and excited she was for the wedding that she did a happy dance. It was truly a happy day for the couple as the wed in front of their friends and family traveling in near and far.

Kailin and Art, you two are perfect for each other in every way! A year has officially gone by and I am still doing the happy dance for you guys whenever I see your wedding day photos! So thankful to have the opportunity to work with you on your big day, and become such great friends. Love you two so much and cannot wait for our overdue dinner date!

NICOLE & ROY - THE WEDDING!

Over a year ago we stepped foot onto one of the most gorgeous event venues in Southern California, which overlooked the Santa Monica mountains to watch Nicole and Roy say I DO!

Nicole and Roy hired us to plan their grand fete over a year prior to their wedding, and it was quite a journey considering the couple lived in New York and planned from afar. Regardless of distance, the two were still able to make sure to be as hands on as possible with their details for the wedding. They both absolutely LOVE food and interesting cocktails, and dreamed that to be a large part of their actual wedding. Their spread of sweets included mini desserts from Crème Caramel, custom ice cream cookie sandwiches from Snow Monster, popsicles in champagne, and cake from Merely Sweets. We joked about the guests either leaving the wedding with a sugar high or possibly very drunk.

Nicole and Roy, it’s been over a year since this grand affair! We are so happy to see all the adventures and new paths you have created in your lives. Thank you again for allowing us to be a part of your big day! It was such a great one =)

VIVIAN CHAN X CCL WEDDINGS & EVENT

From our gal Gloria Yi:

On a Sunday afternoon our team was invited by fashion designer and owner Vivian Chan for an exclusive photoshoot to represent her Summer 2016 line, inspired by and dedicated to wedding planners. E2 Make up & Beauty did our hair and make-up to enhance and define our natural beauty. Stewart Uy Photography led and directed the photoshoot in collaboration with Vivian Chan’s team.

As wedding planners, we are creatives who appreciate the quality of details both big and small and likewise, Vivian Chan is a designer who creates every style with intentions beyond just the fabric that is cut and sewn together. Each style is comprised of details down from the very pattern of the fabric to how the garment is designed to be worn. All seasons, past and current are inspired by and celebrate a group of real women with real careers, and real personalities while embracing both their beauty and femininity.

Vivian Chan pre-selected a style from her SS16 collection for each girl to wear for the photoshoot. She explained the source of the inspiration behind her designs for the collection and how the details of the garments reflected and embodied wedding planners. For example, the custom square print on some of the styles had a knot intertwined into the pattern to reflect how wedding planners help couples “tie-the-knot.”  Her collection definitely generates positive feelings and to be able to be a part of her inspiration was simply extraordinary!

Thank you for celebrating the women in our industry! It was an honor and a privilege!

Check out the photos of our team wearing the Summer 2016 Collection from Vivian Chan! Head on over to Vivian Chan’s website to check out the new collection, along with all her other beautiful pieces by clicking HERE!

CAT & RAY - OUR #BESTWEEKEND IN KOH SAMUI, THAILAND!

**WARNING, there is a long blog post ahead so scroll to the bottom if you would like to get straight to the photos**

It has been over a year since our #bestweekendever took place in dreamy Koh Samui, Thailand.  I’ve wanted to share my experience planning our destination wedding for quite some time and now is the time! My now husband, Ray (a.k.a #tallasianguy on Instagram), and I planned to wed in front of our closest family and friends in an intimate wedding affair near where my dear aunt’s ashes were scattered at sea after she had passed away 5 years ago. He knew the importance of  me being “near” her on my  wedding day and didn’t think twice about the work, travel and challenges that would come with planning a destination wedding.

We’ve been blessed to have such close relationships with our friends for years, so planning our wedding also became planning an unforgettable vacation with our friends and family. We requested our guests to find their own flights but made sure to take good care of their transportation, rooms, and meals for the weekend once they landed on the island.

We first visited Koh Samui, Thailand with my parents (since my father lives in Bangkok) in March of 2014 to scout venues and meet vendors. After an extensive amount of researching venues I finally found the venue of our dreams on AIRBNB! We found a gorgeous villa on a private beach overlooking the ocean in Koh Samui. The villa was beyond perfect to wed and dine beach front with our guests. During the trip, we decided on the hotel that would house our guests, the restaurants our guests would dine at for two nights, the florist who would curate and style our floral, and the caterer who would satisfy the tummies of our guests. I would say that making all those decisions on one trip was pretty efficient planning. What do you think?

The remainder of the planning was done  in the U.S. with the help of our planners, Gloria Yi and Gloria Lee. They were the key to a flawless and exciting weekend with our guests. We planned 3 days of events with a welcome dinner on Thursday, elephant riding and rehearsal dinner on Friday, and to save the best for the last: the most unforgettable wedding day that I could possibly ask for on Saturday. The wedding day was absolutely perfect. I’m not going to lie and say I was worry-free because I definitely did do some worrying! Two weeks prior to the wedding, I was constantly checking the weather because the forecast suggested a rainy climate on our wedding weekend. Leading up to the pre-wedding festivities, it poured buckets and stormed like there was no tomorrow. Fortunately, God was on our side and the sun filtered through the clouds and the weather cleared up just two hours prior to the first group of guests arrival. The remainder of the weekend was filled with clear skies and blue waters.

As a wedding planner, I am always a teensy bit emotional at every wedding. A sweet set ofvows, an emotional first look or even the sight of a father-daughter dance will definitely tug at my heart strings. However, my wedding day was a flood gate of tears from the moment my hubby and I opened our eyes and prayed together to start the day. These tears continued to pour out generously when my girlfriends came to do my hair and makeup, when my friends gave their speeches and even when the fireworks lit up the sky to brighten the night once more in celebration of our wedding day. It was just a day of ugly crying all around. Do I regret it? Not one bit.

Having 75 guests at the wedding was the perfect number for us. Because we have a close relationship with each person who was at our wedding, we wanted to ensure that everyone was somehow involved over the entire wedding weekend. The wedding day was not just about us, but it was about everyone who came to celebrate with us from the U.S.

My girlfriends did my hair and makeup, the person who introduced Ray and I officiated the wedding, our childhood friend emceed the reception, my former client-turned-dear-friend prayed over the ceremony, and the individuals who knew us best gave speeches over the past three days. Our photographer and videographer were also close friends who came along with us to capture the unforgettable weekend.

I probably could go on and on about all the amazing memories I had but I should probably stop somewhere so I think I will end on a note with some tips and advice in combination with my favorite moments of the wedding day:

Favorite Moments:

1. Getting ready in the morning with my 8 girlfriends, some who have known me for 25 years: One of my friends who was unable to attend the wedding had written a letter for someone to read to me that morning. It was horrible because my makeup was a mess after, but the emotions I felt while sitting/ standing together in a circle after hearing the message my friend read will be a memory I will cherish forever.

2. The first step I took walking down the aisle: I had seen that platform empty many times before but it was different on the wedding day. The moment I stepped down the platform on and saw all of our friends and family standing there, I realized how loved we are. (I tear up writing about this just thinking about that moment again!)

3. The fireworks: Something about the fireworks were magical. It was the perfect ending to the reception dinner before the dancing commenced. The song we chose, “This is the New Year” by A Great Big World was perfect and blasted over the speakers bringing light and optimism to the new year that had just begun.

My advice as a bride/planner for those who are planning a destination wedding:

1. Don’t try to plan a destination wedding alone. I have helped clients plan destination weddings in Puglia and Venice, Italy and know the importance of trusting others to help you run the show. I was blessed to have two of the girls in our company come along on the journey. They were absolutely amazing and worked well by adapting to oncoming changes and meeting all the guests. I honestly didn’t have to worry about a thing on the wedding day and made sure to trust in God and our team.

2. Arrive early to your destination. We actually traveled to Bangkok, Thailand two weeks prior to the wedding and it was THE BEST! We had the lovely opportunity to not only welcome many of our guests to the country but had a chance to explore the country and take care of some last minute errands. Some unforgettable days and nights were made during those two weeks =)

3. When guests are traveling great distances for you, be sure to make them feel special: These are probably the closest people in your lives that know you as well as you know them. We sent out many emails to our guests such as a roster of all the attending guests with their Instagram handles and a map of the hotel property the guests were housed at. We created custom pin buttons with quirky nicknames for each guest to wear to stir conversation among one another. We also wrote a letter to each guest and placed it in the welcome back they would receive upon arrival to their room. We wanted everyone to know how HAPPY we were to have them be a part of our wedding weekend!

It was absolutely the best weekend ever. We miss every moment about that weekend every single day and are so thankful for the love all of our guests showed us through attending our wedding/sharing an unforgettable vacation. Would I highly suggest a destination wedding? Absolutely!

MICHELLE & KEVIN - THE WEDDING

Talk about an international affair!  Michelle and Kevin had friends and family fly in from all over the world for an outdoor summer wedding at the beautiful Hummingbird Nest Ranch. The couple chose a clean and classic color palette with white, gold and black as their primary colors. Peony red mainly came into play with the lush floral from Honey and Poppies.

We had the great honor of working with Michelle’s sister the previous year on their #weekendbash so we knew Michelle and Kevin’s wedding was going to be a great party! The couple wanted to make sure the bar was the focal point so they had a light up sign reading the word “DRINKS” at the bar. The CCL team built a custom escort card installation reading a famous line from Blake Shelton’s song — “You’ll be my glass of wine and I’ll be your shot of whiskey.” Custom whiskey and wine glasses etched with the couple’s logo were displayed on gold shelves in front of the installation.

At the guest message station, guests gave their input on coming up with names for the couple’s future children by incorporating their last name “Wang.” They were then invited into the cobblestone courtyard lit with market lights for live music, dinner and dancing! The phrase “Shut up and Dance” set the mood on the dance floor. Guests danced the night away on the dance floor with a vinyl reading “Shut Up and Dance” to a live band also performing “Shut up and Dance.”

It was a fun affair that included spontaneous, but heartfelt speeches, custom ice cream cookie sandwiches and lots of light up swag for the guests to wear and dance the night away!

MONICA & SEAN - THE WEDDING!

An outdoor venue, twinkling lights, the perfect weather and an abundant love surrounding the couple, more than enough to warm our hearts — what more could you possibly ask for? Monica and Sean’s June 2015 wedding at Saddlerock Ranch was simply beautiful. The bride chose her color palette to be neutral shades of ivory, cream, nude and gold with pops of magenta. Green Leaf Designs did not fail to deliver this color ratio perfectly!

The ceremony took place under a lush archway with greenery and pops of beautiful and bold magenta with a large giraffe overseeing the ceremony from the side (did you know that Stanley the Giraffe from Hangover II is housed at the venue?). Guests noshed on appetizers from Whoa Nelly Catering and sipped wine from Saddlerock’s very own winery. The couple’s escort cards were kraft paper journals stamped with the couple’s favorite phrase on the first page of every journal. The journals were placed on a custom dark-wood stained wall and each held an escort card and a sprig of greenery wrapped in gold twine.

Guests dined beneath the twinkling lights hanging from the trees and danced to a live band before enjoying hot churros and freshly scooped ice cream! It was certainly a memorable affair with great company and amazing food.

Monica and Sean, seeing how much love both your families have for you absolutely melted my heart. It truly looks like you guys are one big family all along. Thank you for allowing CCL to be a part of the magic and witness your special day. Love you both!

JOANN & ERIC - THE WEDDING!

On August 8. 2015, we had the great pleasure of working with Joann, a bride with a smile that lights up the room and Eric, a groom with a charismatic heart and a love for the Los Angeles Dodgers. The wedding took place at 440 Seaton in Downtown Los Angeles. We were enthused to take on the challenge to transform the large warehouse space to create an intimate feel for 300 guests. With the help of our amazing vendors, warm lighting, plenty of draping and tons of fun detail, Joann and Eric’s wedding was one for the books!

The couple’s wedding was also featured recently on Style Me Pretty California! Check it out right HERE.

The couple’s palette was simple with neutral shades of ivory and cream, touches of gold and pops of deep red. Red was mainly used in the beautifully arranged floral and the absolutely dreamy arch by Emblem Floral Design. Guests entered the main room from the streets and were welcomed by a wall with a phrase that began their journey for the evening “The Best is Yet to Come.”

Once the couple said their “I dos,” guests were ushered into two areas in the cocktail reception to munch on appetizers from Hungry Bear Catering and sip non-stop at the open bar from Sunseris. The couple also decided to partake in a Korean bowing ceremony during cocktail hour. Valentina Glidden took some of the most stunning photos of this traditional Korean ceremony I have ever seen! We absolutely love when couples embrace their culture and honor their parents in this simple, but absolutely sweet ceremony.

The couple’s love for the DODGERS was unforgettable and was infused into a custom escort installation with “baseball tickets” placed on plexi trays filled with peanuts, cracker jacks, baseballs and a phrase the couple chose by the ever-so-famous Yogi Berra.

A live band welcomed the guests as they entered the reception hall filled with long family-style reception tables for a memorable dinner that many guests have said was one of the best meals at a wedding they’ve had. After dinner,  a dessert room was set-up with two of the couple’s favorite sweets from Disneyland — beignets and dole whip! It was only fitting for us to create a special vinyl for the floor reading “Watch Me Whip” and “Watch Me Nae Nae.” The vinyls were placed on the floor with foot prints that copied the dance moves from once station to the other.

Joann and Eric, working with you two is such a blessing. I can’t even begin to put into words how much fun I had with your wedding and the two of you. Being around the two of you is always filled with so much laughter and joy! I will never forget Joann’s happy dance at the food tasting. Love you both to pieces!

EUNICE & MICHAEL - THE WEDDING!

We’re always a fan of fun, quirky and colorful details so when a couple allows us to do what we do best by incorporating such details into a wedding, we’re on it faster than you can say “I DO!”

Eunice and Michael’s May 2015 wedding was such a treat for us to design and plan. The palette of colors marigold, poppy and deep teal was such a fun wheel of colors to work with. The couple also requested to incorporate tid bits of their nicknames they are known by into the wedding– robot and dino! The groom, a talented graphic designer, designed all the paper goods with the most adorable collection of symbols, icons and emojis based on the things the couple loves. We were able to tie in these exciting details throughout the wedding to create one awesome wedding and dance party!

Have you ever asked your bartender for a hug or a high five? Eunice and Michael’s guests sure have! The specialty drinks at the bar were named “Hug” and “High Five” so the question of the night was “Can I get a hug/high five?”  Even the drink orders were fun to hear and even more exciting when the bartenders actually gave the guests a high five.

An outdoor reception took place at the Unique Space LA with long tables and centerpieces with maiden hair fern plants, centerpieces with lots of greenery and protea, painted wood blocks with succulents and (the best part) painted dinosaurs! Eunice and Michael’s wedding had the perfect colors and personality that epitomized “fun!”

Thank you so much, Eunice and Michael, for allowing us to be a part of your creative journey with you! It was so humbling to work with a couple with such a strong love for each other, family and church. You guys are seriously dino-mite! Looking forward to our dinner dates and future escape room shenanigans!

TIFFANY & BOBBY - THE WEDDING!

A wedding filled with so much personality, details and absolute love from friends and family are definitely characteristics of a wedding you know will be amazing! Tiffany and Bobby, residents of New York, had planned for a Spring wedding with a color palette fit for the season with peach, coral, dusty blue, ivory and shades of blush pink.

The bride, being a designer herself, hand drew and created the invitation and all the stationery pieces in their wedding. It was such a special touch to the wedding knowing the first item that the guest saw were created by the bride. Her illustration of beautiful flower blooms were carried throughout the wedding details from the menus, programs and table numbers. The groom’s love for beer pong were not forgotten, as custom painted beer pong tables with the design were made for guests to play a game of speed beer pong during cocktail hour.

Being that Tiffany and Bobby were from New York and knowing just how special New York was to the couple, we knew we just had to incorporate the idea of New York into their big day. It was only appropriate that we made their outdoor cocktail hour into a nod to their love for the city. A popcorn vendor was set-up serving fresh popcorn to guests. A large escort installation was created with a hand illustrated map of all the couple’s favorite landmarks. Escort cards were then attached that led guests to tables that were also named after the landmarks.

Following the cocktail hour, guests entered a rustic dining hall to finish off their evening with dinner and lots of drinking and dancing. A rather extensive dessert station was set-up and displayed on a large wooden hutch from Found Rentals’s beautiful collection. It was such an amazing evening for an even more amazing couple and all their wedding guests.

Tiff and Bobby, we hadso much fun working with the two of you! Can’t believe how time just flew by during all the planning! We’re going to miss you both so much and can’t wait to see you both again soon (in NY?)! We loved every moment working with you and seeing all the beautiful details you put into your wedding design. You have a beautiful group of friends and such a loving family. WE LOVE YOU!

JENNEY & EUGENE - THE WEDDING!

Today we’re sharing the whimsical wedding of Jenny and Eugene at Calamigos Equestrian in Burbank from last September. It was THE busiest weekend for the CCL Team as we had 4 weddings in just 2 days and the team pulled it all off beautifully! Jenny and Eugene’s wedding was recently featured on Wedding Chicks, and you can definitely check it out HERE! Below are the details of the couple’s wedding from their wedding coordinator, Liz Yoon:

Planning this perfect day for Jenny and Eugene was full of adventures and surprises. To begin the whole celebration with the bride’s entrance in a white horse carriage to ending the night with “Don’t Stop Believing” serenaded by their entire guests on the dance floor, I definitely enjoyed every part of this day.

Jenny and Eugene envisioned their wedding to have a clean and simple look , but bring in pops of vibrant colors through details throughout the big day. We had the chance to add their personal favorites into their wedding day by incorporating their love for Izzi soda as an escort wall. The couple’s miniature husky, Oski, also made an appearance in the wedding ceremony and sprinkled through the wedding paper details.

To also include Korean culture into their wedding celebration, the couple had Korean traditional ceremony, Pae Baek, which represented the groom’s cultural background.

It was very exciting to work with such great and gifted vendors to create a beautiful day; ultimately, to witness great love between Jenny and Eugene as they said, “I do.”

JULIE & JONATHAN - THE WEDDING

Friends since high school, Julie and Jonathan didn’t know that one day they would be meant for each other until many years later. Once Jonathan popped the question to seal the deal, the couple began planning their elegant May wedding to be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. The couple chose a beautiful, traditional and elegant color palette with ivory, gold and subtle hints of blush pink.

The groom, growing up with a family who had owned a liquor store, was known for always consuming two things: candy and beef jerky. We knew having these two elements somewhere in the wedding would be a great nod to the groom. A beef jerky station with the groom’s favorite flavors were chosen and displayed during cocktail hour. It was a hit! As guests walked into the reception hall they were greeted with a custom candy station made of plexi-glass into the shapes of a round table and the couple’s initials.

A gorgeous escort card installation, created from vintage gold and glass shelving from Found Rentals, was filled with champagne bottles personalized with guest’s names written on each in calligraphy. Guests took their time to find their names and sit in the display area to snap a group photo with their friends and family.

The dinner reception was held inside the main ballroom, where the guests dined on a four-course dinner and were entertained with all the out-of-the ordinary speeches and presented with endless cake and desserts. A special performance from The couple impressed their guests with their choreographed first dance to the song “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran.

Julie and Jonathan, your wedding had some of the best stories yet! I loved getting to know you both and work with you on your wedding day! I know you’ll miss those emails from me, but I will be sure to randomly email you every now and then with my to-do lists and follows ups! Can’t wait to enjoy another dinner together! Love you both so much!

HANNAH & ALFRED - THE WEDDING!

A couple who met in church and live their lives serving others, it is only appropriate Hannah and Alfie revolved their wedding around their favorite bible verse, “Do Everything in Love.”  Hannah and Alfred met at the perfect time, and everyone around them knew marriage was in their near future.  One year later, Alfred popped the question and the couple was on their way to planning their March of 2016 wedding.

The setting was perfect in every way. Hannah and Alfie said “I DO” in front of their closest friends and family in a beautiful outdoor garden setting. It was a simple ceremony that brought out tears of joy and laughter. The couple chose a clean color palette of ivory, deep green and gold, and of course, made sure the phrase “Do Everything in Love” was a key part of the planning and wedding day.

Guests were then escorted to the cocktail hour set in front of a Victorian-style home, where guests munched on cheese, crackers and fresh fruit and sipped on some of the couple’s favorite cocktails and beers. An escort installation with a LARGE gold sequined heart was created in honor of the couple’s dating anniversary on February 14th, also “coincidentally” known as Valentine’s Day. Custom conversation hearts with words chosen by the groom were made and packaged for each guest.

The dinner proceeded inside a red barn with twinkling lights and an endless buffet for the guests to fuel up before dancing the night away with the couple. The wedding dance floor was also perfectly and custom decaled with the words “Do Everything in Love”.

Hannah and Alfred, you two truly have hearts of gold and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to work with the both of you!

JENNIE & DEREK - THE WEDDING!

Talk about a splash of color! We have one colorful wedding at the Fig House in Los Angeles to share with you!

I met Jennie, the bride, several times during different wedding events prior to working with her to plan her own, and I can say that working on this couple’s wedding is a planner’s dream. When we first talked about Jennie and Derek’s wedding design and concept, the couple admittedly declared a few MUST HAVES to the perfect wedding: good food,  loads of alcohol and elements of fun! Those must haves were seriouslyelements to a very memorable party. The best thing about Jennie and Derek’s entire wedding planning process was the absolute trust the couple took by hiring us on to be their full service wedding planner. I mean, what couple would have allowed their wedding planner to choose everything for them, including the colors, concept and details.  Right when the couple gave me the green light I immediately began brainstorming about all thethings we could incorporate to make this wedding unique and different.

We started off setting the palette that complimented the venue’s teal walls and beautifully stained glass windows. We enlisted graphic designer, Lani Choi, to work on Jennie and Derek’s stationery design. Boy did we come up with some fun invites! We created long and skinny invitations with complimenting pieces in unique geometric shapes to fit in with the hexagon tables and the custom ceremony “arch” created just for their wedding ceremony. It was something that we had never done and it was absolutely spectacular.

The guests were invited into the cocktail hour area with huge mirrors that were in place at the venue reading “A Good Story Never Started With a Salad.” This was the beginning of a lot of alcohol as the couple requested. “Hangover kits” were created as the guest’s escort cards, with items the couple craved and wanted if they were hungover. The dinner reception was catered by M Grill Brazilian BBQ. Think of sizzling swords of meat being carved directly at the guest’s tables. When the guests were done eating, they just flipped over their custom BBQ tags to “FULL CAPACITY.”

Jennie and Derek, what can I say? You two wanted to make sure your guests had a very FUN time at the wedding, and they definitely got just that. It was truly an honor for you two to trust me to make the decisions for your wedding–THANK YOU! I loved everything about your wedding, dress, food… I could go on and on. Thank you again and miss you both!

STACY & EDWIN - THE WEDDING!

When you put two people who have the same passion for food, work as they do for each other,  you can definitely all agree that they are truly BETTER TOGETHER.

Stacy and Edwin are no strangers to the CCL family.  We had the honor to work with Edwin’s brother, Chris, on various graphic design projects and also had the luxury of planning his wedding in 2013. When we started working with the couple it was a match-made in heaven. We absolutely adored Stacy and Edwin’s love for good food, amazing cocktails and their fun and quirky ideas they wanted to tie into their wedding.

Having the wedding at Fig House in Los Angeles was perfect!  Hundreds of paper hearts were hung from the ceiling to accompany the bride’s vision of a detailed area over their dining area. The lyrics to their first dance song “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran were placed on the large mirrors when guests entered the venue. Did I mention the bride and groom are both pharmacists? So it was only fitting for their wedding cocktail mixologists at Pharmacie LA to mix up and serve their cocktails. An installation was built and created specifically for the couple that consisted of dozens of vintage apothecary medicine bottles as their escort cards. The florist, Green Leaf Designs, then filled each bottle with a beautiful floral bloom that not only made this a wall of escort cards, but an art installation as well.

Custom tattoos and buttons were just some of the many details that were available at the wedding for the guests to take and wear throughout the evening. For dessert, Carmela Ice Cream, a hot coffee station and hot churros were available for the guests to devour after dinner.

You can also check out their wedding featured on Grey Likes Weddings HERE!

Stacy and Edwin, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE YOU! I love the love you two have, and how you truly embrace the GOOD LIFE. I cannot thank you enough for allowing CCL to be a part of your wedding planning and day. Can’t wait to see you both soon over another amazing meal. Love you both so much!

JANICE & BERTRAM - THE WEDDING!

very love story is great adventure, and for Janice and Bertram, it was all about making adventures happen for two of the most selfless people who dedicate their time and lives helping others. When I spoke with the couple of the places they’d been and the volunteering they’d done, it honestly inspired me to do more for others. Hearing their great stories and being a part of this important day is EXACTLY what inspires me and why I love what I do.

The couple wedded in August of 2014 at Hartley Botanica, surrounded by a lush setting of trees everywhere! The couple really let their personalities and relationship shine through by incorporating the places they traveled and the love of things they share together and individually. For their escort installation, the couple told us how they climbed Mount Kilamanjaro and felt like their Klean Kanteen water bottles were life savers! It was only natural the couple wanted to share their love of this durable container with their friends and family, and a 8′ tall x 7.5 wide wall was built and stained to display the Klean Kanteen water bottles for their guests.

Janice and Bertram’s beautiful ceremony followed by an outdoor dinner under the summer sky, while listening to a live band and dancing the night away. Did I mention they had the most delectable wedding cake made by Sweet Lady Jane, a made-to-order hot churro truck AND a Hawaiian shaved ice station to represent each the bride and groom’s favorite desserts. It was truly dessert HEAVEN.

Janice and Bertram, I see your photos on IG of all your adventures and could not be more happy to see two exceptionally kind and generous people travel the world together. I hope your sense or wonder and curiosity will always be as BIG as always, and that your little one on the way will feel the same sense of compassion as you two. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the beginning of your new adventure. Love you both so much!

SUSAN & PHILIP - THE WEDDING!

What’s better than a wedding? A wedding for someone you love so dearly!

When my dear friend Susan, who I’ve been honored to know for the past 12 years, got engaged in September of 2013, and it was all smiles and tears of joy. Maggie had the pleasure of being Susan and Philip’s coordinator for their big day at Cafe Pinot in Los Angeles. It was a warm day which made for a perfect evening for an outdoor wedding, and the lit up skyrise buildings only made their wedding day even more magical. During cocktail hour, guests enjoyed specialty cocktails and refreshing PINKBERRY ice cream. That’s right, dessert before dinner!

Susan and Philip chose a navy blue, light pink and rose gold palette for the wedding. Now rose gold is always a tough color to find in décor. Nevertheless, they were still able to find rose gold chiavari chairs for their wedding! They were such beauties that really tied together her wedding with the colors. All the details and decor were chosen by the bride herself, who also beautifully crafted the sign boards. Their love for coffee played the part in their escort items that were custom printed “Love is Brewing.” Coffee mugs on gold shelves were lined along a custom light pink wall to display these beauties for the guests. Patina Catering delighted the guests with a decadent three-course meal, while the evening continued with lots of dancing and a sparkler exit to send off the couple into the night.

Susan and Philip, being a part of your BIG DAY meant the world to me and all of us at CCL! Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of the memories. You both looked absolutely stunning and seeing these photos again and again only brings more tears of joy to my eyes. Love you both so much!

JENNIFER & KEVIN - THE WEDDING WEEKEND BASH!

It’s almost May 2015 and the year just keeps zipping by us day by day. We will soon begin our rush of wedding season beginning next month and will have lots of gorgeous details to share with you, so don’t forget to keep up with us on Instagram (@cclweddings) for snapshots of our work!

Our second to last wedding last year was a weekend bash that started on a Friday evening with a Fiesta Welcome Dinner, followed by the wedding and ended with a Hangover Sunday Brunch. It was a perfect warm weekend in Palm Springs at the Parker Hotel (so excited we had the chance to finally work there) with the perfect couple, Jennifer and Kevin.

I had met Jennifer and Kevin on Valentine’s Day 2014 and what began as a normal consult turned into a 3+ hour conversation with more laughter than I could handle. I loved them the first time I met them, and too fell in love with their families when I met them the weekend of the wedding. Jennifer and Kevin are the true definition of High School Sweethearts that made it through over 10 years of dating and even moving to another country to work.

Jennifer and Kevin’s destination wedding was all about the laid back and cool vibes of the Palm Springs style and creating a FUN and gorgeous wedding weekend for all their guests who not only drove in, but flew thousands of miles to celebrate the weekend with them. Check out the photos from Sloan Photographers to see what the weekend was all about!

Jenn and Kevin, you two make laughter contagious and I am so happy to have met such positive and hilarious people. Getting to know you and your family has been so humbling and I cannot wait to hear what crazy adventures and stories when I see you again in July. YAY! Gloria Lee and I miss your emails and Kevin’s random responses! Congrats to you both again and again! Love you both!

A SNIPPET OF OUR WEDDING IN KOH SAMUI, THAILAND

It’s already been 2 months since the day Ray (#tallasianguy) and I tied the knot in front of 75 of our closest friends and family overseas in Koh Samui, Thailand. I have to say that it was THE BEST DAY & WEEKEND of my life and I still wish that we were in Koh Samui drinking out of coconuts and eating spicy Thai food. Maybe it’s because it was our wedding, but it was truly more magical and memorable than I could imagine. I will definitely be writing more about this later in a few other posts. Today I wanted to share some photos of the #bestweekendever and give the same advice that I tell every bride, and especially told myself before departing on a 22-hour plane ride to the other side of the world.

I know that weddings can be stressful, overwhelming and sometimes just not manageable. It may be because I help 15-20 couples a year put on the wedding that it prepared me for all the planning in store. I mean airline and shuttle schedules, hotel room and villa assignments, table seating assignments, and the list goes on. I never let anything get to me, even when there was no PLAN B for the monsoon weather that extended out from December. I always told myself to make the most of everything because regardless of what happens there are 75 other people there with us that we wanted to make sure had the time of their life. I relied on the amazing lead coordinators (Gloria Yi and Gloria Lee) that we flew with us to Thailand to take care of our guests and the entire weekend. I learned to live in the moment and not dwell on the things that won’t matter 5, 10, 20 or 100 years from now.

Today, 2 months later I am still on cloud nine wishing that we could all one day be back on the island celebrating and dancing under the stars in front of the ocean. It was magical and I could not have imagined it any other way! The people, the food, the island vibes… to us it was the best weekend ever.

My advice to the thousands or brides out there (if you wish to take some pieces of advice from a now former bride):

  • Hire someone your are comfortable and confident with and TRUST them the entire way. Do not try to control everything and remember everything for the entire day. Your planner will help guide you.
  • Try on everything the week before the wedding and pack all your personal and wedding items at least 5 days prior to the wedding.
  • Make a check list of everything that needs to be handed off to your planner and match against theirs.
  • Drink a lot of water the week of the wedding and make sure to get plenty of sleep because you probably won’t sleep as much a few days before the wedding. I was just so excited that I couldn’t wait to wake up each day!
  • Lay out EVERYTHING the night before the wedding. I personally laid out all my hair and makeup items in sections on a towel so the people who needed those items would be able to come in and start right away. I also made sure to have water and iced tea available for the wonderful ladies/ bridesmaids in my life while getting ready.
  • Lay out everything that you would like to have photographed in an area that no one will touch.
  • Have your bridesmaids pack up all their items before helping you get ready so it’s not messy or hectic later on.
  • Wake up earlier, finish earlier and take time to sit down and enjoy lunch with the wedding party. This was one thing I was very thankful for! We pre-ordered all our lunch so we had time to actually sit with the entire wedding party and our families to enjoy a meal before everything began.
  • Keep your wedding party happy, hydrated and full because the best wedding party is a happy wedding party. We also had drinks andfresh fruit ready for them after the photos and before the ceremony to unwind and enjoy the view before the festivities completely began.

These are just some of my tips that we were glad we did for our wedding party, family and us. Enjoy some of the photos taken from our friends phones in the meantime! Can’t wait to share more with you all.

JEN & MICHAEL - THE WEDDING!

If I had to choose 2 super human beings to define the phrase “power couple,” it would definitely be Jen and Michael! I met Jen and Michael over a year before their wedding, they amazed me from day one and were unstoppably ambitious individuals . This was apparent in their career, relationships and lifestyles, they were always jumping through hoops and making things happen. We’re so thankful to have their wedding featured TODAY on Ruffled Blog! Check out the feature right, HERE, HERE OR HERE!

It was no surprise, then, their wedding was such a beautiful success! The couple chose a very vibrant color palette presented through all the intricate details that defined who they were together as a couple and individually. These Berkeley alums even named one of the specialty cocktails after the ever-so-famous mascot, Oski. It was the first time a couple asked for multiple beer pong tables during cocktail hour, so it was only appropriate we custom built the tables and even had our very own Skye Cho (a.k.a #fontgirl) paint on the same watercolor pattern from their invites.

As guests dined under the stars overlooking a field of beautiful vegetation, the couple kept surprising with performances, from their first dance to their parent’s dances. It was such an eventful night ended with a magical grand exit under dozens of lit sparklers.

Jen and Michael, cannot wait to see your 10 year plan come to fruition one day! I admire you both in all you do and cannot be happier to call you friends. Thank you for allowing us into your lives and being able to plan your BIG DAY!
