JESS & DAVE - THE WEDDING!

This super special wedding features one of our very own! Our fun-loving Jess Lee married her forever sweetheart Dave on a beautiful day in June! This wedding had a combination of all the best possible human emotions and we loved every ounce of it! The couple wanted a wedding that was clean and simple that had natural earth tones. This was incorporated in all details of their wedding from their ceremony floral pieces to their escort installation, which was captured perfectly by Lukas Griffin and his team. The bride had a very particular vision to incorporate a whole lot of vinyl! The floors, the mirrors, the individually-made guest bloom bottles were all vinyl-ed with simple catchphrases that the couple LOVED! Everything about this wedding had special meaning to the couple, including a table filled with chocolates that were there to honor the bride’s late father and his motto “ Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get until you open it.” We’re soaking up this day once again during this quarantine to really reflect on what life is all about, which is LOVE! This wedding was such a great reminder for us amongst all the craziness to be intentional in all relationships and we hope that you can find some peace in this wedding as well :)

JEN & ALVIN - THE WEDDING!

Jen and Alvin’s Al Fresco wedding took place in October of 2017 at the classic Greystone Mansion. When we met with Jen and Alvin for their design meeting, they told us that they wanted to have an elegant, timeless wedding that also had the Tuscan countryside feel. The elegance of the venue and the addition of the huge Cypress trees really brought the feel of Tuscany all the way to Beverly Hills. The couples’ color palette consisted of rich berry tones, blush, and natural greens in foliage. This romantic group of colors really helped add the elegance of the bride and groom’s personalities into this wedding. This Disney loving couple also made it a MUST to incorporate some hidden mickeys (can you try spotting some?)! We had so many fun memories from this wedding and are swooning looking back at all these photos!

JANE & GARY - THE WEDDING!

Jane and Gary said “I DO” at the iconic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Downtown LA in May of 2017. The overall look and feel that they wanted for their wedding was to be classic, traditional, and to incorporate a whole lot of floral! This beautiful couple chose the colors nude, champagne, ivory, and emerald green. They chose to have their bridesmaids dress colors in emerald green, which was such a fantastic way to incorporate their classy color palette. The couple was absolutely glowing from the start of first look all the way to the end of the night for their cake cutting. You could really tell that this was the day that they had been envisioning and waiting for their whole lives just by the way their eyes sparkled! The wedding went off without a hitch and the perfect amount of romance and luxury was felt all around the room!

EMILY & RANDY - THE WEDDING!

Thinking about this couple and their wedding back in August of 2017 makes me smile! Emily and Randy exuded joy every time we were all together. They had so many personal details that they wanted to incorporate into their wedding, so we had to make sure to get it right! Their escort installation had the silhouette of the Chicago skyline (where the groom is from) which then continued into the Los Angles skyline (where the bride is from) to represent their true roots! Their color palette of soft pinks, neutral creams, and hints of gold was complimented perfectly by the tones of the ballroom and venue! These colors became such romantic accents for their tabletop display as well. Emily and Randy also have a deep love for music, so they knew from the start that they wanted a live band to start this party correctly! By the time the event was over, the couple and the guests still did not want to leave the dance floor! That night was definitely a night to remember!

CHRISTINE & ROY - THE WEDDING!

Christine and Roy are one of our sweet couples who got married in Long Beach, California in May of 2017. They had a romantic boho vibe in mind, so they decided to incorporate Nordic elements and forestry. The couple wanted to share one of their favorite destinations in Iceland, called “Reynisfjara” (which means Black Sand Beach), so they had their guest names and table numbers written on river rocks to show their love! The wood flooring and antique components from the venue matched their desired look perfectly! It really helped bring their color palette of burgundy, blush, and champagne to life! From every detail to outline the couples’ impeccable taste to the most romantic first dance that had us “aw-ing” the whole time, this was definitely a wedding to remember for us!

CHRISTINE & DAVE - THE WEDDING!

Christine and Dave got married on a beautiful day in May! They were one of those couples with the most infectious smiles and we couldn’t have been any more excited to be there to witness their BIG DAY! Their color palette consisted of sage green, white, silver, and accents of marble which created a very clean and modern look for their details. The marble accents made appearances in their dinner chargers and escort installation. The couple also wanted to add an exciting way to be introduced as husband and wife, so they decided to swap out toss items and incorporate noisemakers for each of their guests to make the moment LOUD and PROUD! This definitely shows how fun-loving our couple was and we wish them nothing but the best!

CATHERINE & KEVIN - THE TUSCAN WEDDING!

On a beautiful evening in June of 2017, our sweet couple, Catherine and Kevin, decided to take each other forever in the romantic countryside of Tuscany, Italy! The couples’ love for travel had everything to do with their decision to bring their wedding all the way to Italy. It was important to the couple to have their wedding be intimate; so what better way than to plan a two-day celebration to show their closest family and friends just how much they meant to them! When the guests arrived, the couple hosted a welcome party to make sure everyone felt acquainted with each other. The wedding took place on the second day. Their ceremony came to life with the irreplaceable views of the Tuscan valley to an intimate dinner reception where guests toasted and danced the night away! The color palette that incorporated shades of grey, hints of lavender and natural greens were shown in the unique tablescape and subtle details throughout the wedding. We loved everything about this wedding and cannot wait until the next time we get to revisit Tuscany!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD LUCY JOY!

Happy  New Year!

It's definitely been a few months since I last blogged. What's happened in that time? Well we finished a year full of weddings and events, re-branded the company, and I had a baby girl on July 18th 2017. Meet our little girl, Lucy Joy Hsu! She's truly the light of our lives and we can't stop watching her grow each day.

Motherhood is not easy, but truly the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced. The beginning few months were really tough. I went straight back into work mode three days aftercoming home from the hospital, and had my first wedding six weeks post-partum. It was NOT easy to learn how to take care of a child for the first time and work, but I'm here and I survived!

We have so much in store for 2018 and we cannot wait to share it all with! Stay tuned for more posts on weddings, event, updates on our team and little Lucy.

Oh! We're also celebrating 10 YEARS this June. I just can't believe that we've been in this industry helping hundreds of couples and clients put on their dream wedding or event. It's always a #pinchmemoment at event event.

Stay tuned for another great year! HIP HIP HOORAY!

TRACY & MATT - THE WEDDING!

We had the honor to work with Tracy and Matt almost 1.5 years before their wedding, because with a busy schedule like theirs and living in a completely different state, planning a wedding would not be the easiest for two people were are in residency. The couple lived in Ohio so planning a wedding long distance may not have been easy, but the organization and thoroughness of the couple made it a cinch! During the duration of the planning we probably only saw the couple three times total, while the remainder of the time was done through email and Facetime.

We planned for a weekend event from the rehearsal dinner, welcome dinner to the wedding day that would truly encompass the couple, their love of their careers and sweets! We used the quote “You make my heart palpitate” on the couple’s custom cocktail napkins and wood stirrers, along with an escort installation that held custom packaged heart shape cookies for each guest. The escort installation was then converted to a dessert station with mini sweets all curated by the couple and created by M Cakes Sweets.

Tracy and Matt, wishing you the very best all the way from So Cal! It was such a blast to work on your wedding weekend and meet all your family and friends! Thank you so much for allowing us into your lives and heart.

TAMI & COREY - THE WEDDING!

Being with two people whose smiles can brighten your day is exactly how it felt each time I met with Tami and Corey. Working with these two was an absolute dream and our CCL team loved everything about them and their special day.

The couple chose Calamigos Ranch in Malibu to say “I DO” in front of their family and friends, where a garden encircled the ceremony. Green Leaf Designs helped enhance the beautiful garden setting with lush floral arrangements, lots of green garland and a bed of rose petals down the aisle. The groom’s love for coconut water was definitely not overlooked, and an installation was created to hold bottled of Harmless Harvest Coconut Water for guests to sip on before the ceremony. Prior to this wedding we had not tried Harmless Harvest, but we are now hooked!

The reception took place under a tent inside the newly remodeled reception area at Calamigos where custom green leaf chandeliers were hung throughout the dining room, tall taper candles filled the tables, and table numbers of the couple’s favorite movies were hand drawn by the bride herself. She’s just full of so much talent!

Tami & Corey, I love you two! You are the sweetest people and I cannot thank you enough for allowing me into your lives and our team to plan and create your dream wedding. Can’t wait to see you two again because that positivity you have is contagious.

TAMMY & STEVEN - THE WEDDING!

When two people from different countries with a strong love for their dogs decide to get married, it is only appropriate that all these elements be placed into one big celebration. Tammy was from Canada while Steven was from Hawaii, and a destination wedding was chosen where they could bring both families and friends together in one place. They chose the beautiful property of Westlake Village Inn for their weekend celebration.

The couple chose a colorful palette of plum, lavender, grey and peach for the spring wedding. We combined the elements of the couple’s hometowns in the welcome bags to their guests, a welcome drink of Canadian Dry and Hawaiian shortbread cookies. Their invitation was custom designed by Small Paper Co. who used their dog’s silhouettes on the design on the invite, along with a custom map that showed the couple’s hometowns with dots connecting to their wedding location.

We had taken the dog’s silhouette from the invitation and had life-sized wood cut outs of the dogs made as signs throughout the wedding thanks to Letters To You! Such a great way to incorporate their fur babies with fun phrases from the couple’s countries.

For dessert, the couple had Snow Monster create custom ice cream macaron cookie sandwiches while dancing the night away until mini LA street dogs and poutine fries were served to guests as a late night snack.

Tammy and Steven, thank you so much for allowing us to help plan your big day! It was such a fun filled day with your fur babies, family and friends! We love your love for 90’s music that kept the guests on their toes all night! Congrats again and congrats on your baby girl!

KIM & CHARLIE - THE WEDDING!

Kim and Charlie’s Malibu ranch wedding was celebrated with 180 of their closest friends and family in a romantic al fresco dinner reception catered by out absolute favorite, Hungry Bear Catering.

When we started working with Kim and Charlie, they had mentioned a few things that they absolutely wanted for their wedding: a live band because their crowd loves to dance, a lot of alcohol and delicious food. I think we captured all three with the help of vendors that made it all possible!

We wanted to definitely bring in tidbits of the couple throughout the wedding, as always. The escort installation was created and designed by our very own Gloria Yi with a custom built shelving unit that held custom mini boxed donuts and canned iced coffee for all the guests. Both items were a nod to the couple’s careers and their love for coffee. More desserts and sweets surprised the guests after dinner with freshly piped and fried hot churros and gourmet ice cream.

Kim and Charlie, every time I see photos of the two of you, or whenever you two post on social medial, my heart just flutters for you two. From the first time meeting you’ve always shown so much love to each other in the sweetest ways that truly showed how in love you both were. It inspires us all =) Thank you for entrusting Gloria and I in all your wedding planning and big day! We love you both so much and look forward to continuously seeing your love for each other grow more and more!

DANIELLE & TIM - THE WEDDING!

Before meeting Danielle and Tim I had no idea what the movie “Finding Neverland” was about. However after meeting the couple and hearing their absolute love for the movie and the whimsical story and what they envisioned for their wedding, I knew that it was going to be a magical wedding and event for the couple and their guests.

The ceremony’s vision was to have the couple surrounded by greenery and wood stumps with candles, and that is exactly what Green Leaf Designs created for the stage setting where the couple promised their forever. The cocktail hour was all about fun facts of the couple, including an escort installation with a similar design from the invitation where “fairy dust” bottles hung that included all the couple’s HAPPY THOUGHTS. We loved everything about this wedding: the couple, the details and all the performances during the reception.

Danielle and Tim, THANK YOU a million times for allowing us to be a part of this magical adventure with you both! It was so fun working on this wedding with you both! Cheers to more adventures, Disneyland trips and lots of delicious sweets ahead.

SEJIN & MIKE - THE WEDDING

We always love a couple that isn’t scared to bring in lots of color into their wedding, and Sejin and Mike’s intimate Malibu mountaintop wedding was just that, adorned in colors such as shades of lavender, blush pinks, green, sage green, and gold.

Considering the couple lived in New York did the majority of their planning from afar, they entrusted our guidance to help choose the best vendors and options for their big day. The biggest decision was the venue and the couple actually booked their venue without having ever seen the location in person, but absolutely LOVED it when they first saw it during their planning trip in Southern California. Saddlerock’s Chateau Le Dome was the perfect location for all their guests who traveled from all around the world to take part in their 80 person celebration.

The overall concept of the wedding was to bring a watercolor design into the wedding with lots of colors. The couple’s custom invitations were hand drawn with watercolor and digitalized with little details of the couple, their wedding and surrounding interests. We brought on our talented #fontgirl (illustrator and hand lettering extraordinaire) to help create the details of the wedding. An escort installation with all the couple’s favorite places in the world were drawn onto a watercolor map, while escort cards were written on clear plexiglass pieces and hung from the wall. The couple listed all their favorite parks in New York for the table names and each were hand drawn on canvas with watercolor flowers to match their invitations.

It was such a beautiful wedding that overlooked the Malibu landscape along with clear skies that were filled with stars to light the dance floor.

Sejin and Mike, you took a lot of risks and trusts while planning this wedding and we are so thankful to have worked alongside you to make this destination wedding for all your guests come true! We hope to see you back in So Cal sometime soon! Congrats again and again. We love you both!

CLARA & TIM - THE WEDDING!

Clara and Tim was definitely one couple that we enjoyed working with on all the details and overall planning of their big day! I still remember my initial phone call with Clara late at night! I instantly felt like I was talking with a long-time friend.

Their June 2016 wedding was planned with so much personality and detail from the couple’s personal style and interests. The color palette of light pink, sage green, glittery gold and ivory, along with the geometric shapes, came from the bride’s personal style. The groom’s love for cars was visualized through the venue (Smog Shoppe) and escort installation that included custom air fresheners that were designed and custom cut just for the wedding.

Let’s talk about the food! The bride LOVES oysters and wanted an oyster bar for cocktail hour, which was beautifully displayed by Hungry Bear Catering, and certainly was a hit with all the guests. For dessert, the couple treated their guests to their favorite nitrogen ice cream from A La Minute, with custom flavors chosen and created for the bride and groom.

Working on the details for this wedding was a dream! The couple wanted a hanging element during the reception due to the tall ceilings and ability to actually rig from the beams, so we created custom laser cut hanging shapes that accented with greens and hung one-by-one (it was truly a bit scary to climb that ladder so many times).

Clara and Tim, more than just having the opportunity to work on your wedding, I absolutely love the friendship that came from the experience overall. You two are the most organized and courteous people and I am so thankful to have been a part of your wedding planning and day! Can’t wait for many more dinner dates to come. MICHELLE & MICHAEL - THE WEDDING!

The wedding that started our 2016 was definitely a memorable one! Planned in less than a month and with the help of the most amazing vendor team, this wedding was a stunner! Michelle and Michael’s wedding January 2016 wedding at the Montage in Beverly Hills was an elegant affair bringing guests from all around the world to celebrate their nuptials.

The couple met during a friend’s birthday dinner at a seafood restaurant, where Michelle caught Michael’s eye and he had tried to do anything to grab her attention. He happily offered to crack all her crab legs and lobster claws, and that gained a future date which led to this couple becoming husband and wife. It was only appropriate for us to incorporate this story into the couple’s escort installation with a “You Crack Me Up” wall where guests were each given an “escort” crab claw cracker to guide them to their seats. During the couple’s relationship they shared many adventures together where the bride mentioned her love for French dessert carts. We couldn’t resist trying to replicate that inside their reception by renting gold bar carts from Found Vintage Rentals and adorning each cart with each of the couple’s favorite desserts. The guests loved this roaming detail that was offered to guests at each of their tables throughout the reception post dinner.

Our favorite part and design piece was the ceremony itself. The heavily detailed ceremony included at the entrance a vintage piece from Found Rentals that was adorned with lush greenery and floral from Peony and Plum. The aisle itself was draped with sections of white chiffon draping that also help a crystal chandelier dripping with greenery. And of course the altar that has a simple and classic floral arch where the couple exchanged their vows.

Michelle and Michael, thank you for allowing us to work with you both on this wedding! It was certainly a challenge that was worth every single second spent to make your dream wedding possible. We love you both so much and so happy to continuously see your adventures and growing family!

ALI & MATT - THE WEDDING!

They say rain is always good luck on a wedding day, yet it always seems to give any couple a good scare. Luckily Ali and Matt embraced the scare of a little rain and decided to dance it out instead. Little did the couple know while planning their wedding seven months before that there would even be a small chance of rain for their May wedding.

Ali and Matt had always known that Pasadena would be the place they would tie the knot as it was the hometown of the bride. They checked out a few venues, but still were always led back to home. They chose the beautiful property of the Ambassador Mansion for the nuptials in front of 180 of their closest family and friends. It was an entirely outdoor location with a gorgeous garden, amazing architecture and a staircase for the grandest entrance of the bride. A ceremony where the couple was literally surrounded by their friends and family as they stood in the center on a bridge in a garden.

The couple wanted to make sure they added details about themselves throughout the wedding. As guests arrived they served pre-ceremony aguas frescas as a nod to the couple’s favorite beverage. A welcome nut station not only attracted their friends, but also the little critters from the garden.

From the ceremony, to the cocktail hour and reception, each event took place in its own space where the guests could experience different parts of the garden. Guests enjoyed appetizers and some of the couple’s favorite specialty drinks catered from Cynthia Brooks Catering during cocktail hour, while viewing the couple’s “Wall of Fame” of family photos. Their love for tea played a role in their escort cards for the guests as a “Plenty of Love” installation were filled with glass vials of the couple’s favorite tea leaves.

The reception was definitely the main event taking place under a tent frame with white draping and chandeliers above. The best part of it all was the live band from Soultones that played during the duration of the event and brought all the guests to their feet. It was the first time the bride had seen her now hubby dance, and it will definitely not be the last.

Ali & Matt’s wedding was also featured on Style Me Pretty California, and you can check it out right HERE!

HENNA & THOMAS - THE WEDDING!

When two cultures blend together, it makes for a unique and beautiful experience. Such was the case of Henna and Thomas’ wedding in this Downtown Los Angeles , where a warehouse was transformed in 16 hours for one unforgettable affair. Henna and Thomas planned for their September 3rd 2016 wedding to encompass the factors that matter to them most: a lot of food, two cultures colliding, non-stop alcohol and a party to remember.

Henna and Thomas chose a harmonious color palette of deep wine red (did we mention how much they LOVE wine), gold and ivory for their wedding colors. The venue space was a warehouse, and the couple envisioned texture and greenery to make the event feel more alive. We hired the absolutely amazing, Kim Sanders from Art with Nature to create two of the most spectacular pieces that surely had the guests in awe: the ceremony structure (the couple also used for their sweetheart table), and the escort installation that spanned 14′ long for guests to walk through to find their escort card. Accent pieces rented from Found Vintage Rentals’ also made the space feel more inviting to sit and stay awhile as the guests were able to lounge throughout the event in one of 5 furniture vignettes spread throughout the space.  Varying sized chandeliers were used throughout the entire venue, including a massive chandelier hung over the Great Hall and dance floor area.

The couple intertwined both cultures by having a traditional Pakistani ceremony, while using a portion of the ceremony to also honor the parents in a Chinese tea ceremony. During cocktail hour guests nibbled on both Chinese and Pakistani tray passed appetizers, before all going into a feast of a family style dinner with both culture’s dishes in a spectacular 10 course dinner.

Once dancing began, confetti canons exploded and the dance floor was filled with all their guests dancing non-stop until early the next morning. It was truly an unforgettable event for the couple and guests alike.

KATHY & EDWIN - THE WEDDING!

We have a soft spot in our heart to always see families of our client’s get married and grow! And it was such an honor to have Kathy and Edwin hire our team to put on their April wedding at Hummingbird Nest Ranch. We worked with Kathy’s sweet sister, Ivy (see wedding here), just a few years prior and could not be any happier to hear when her sister was engaged! The couple planned their wedding for April, and despite the risk of rain, they took the risk and planned their dream wedding.

All our couples love to bring their personalities into the wedding, and this couple really brought in a lot of their interests and favorites everyone knew them for. Kathy loved Pocky biscuit sticks and was known to always snack on this sweet and savory snack, so we designed a pre-ceremony snack station with Pocky! The official Pocky manufacturing company even saw our Instagram post and offered to send a gift to the couple just for having them a part of their big day. Edwin was known for his knack for music trivia! We never had a groom love music trivia so much so we created a way for the guests to get involved and play along. Guests were given custom music trivia game sheets upon arrival to the wedding and scouted the venue for music lyrics, in which had to guess the title and artist of each song. The grand prize: an IPAD for the winner of the game! Let’s just say it was a pretty EPIC win that had a two way tie ending with a dance battle, and a courageous guest who rapped the entire song.

Did we mention it actually did rain? The week prior to the wedding forecasted a 90% chance of rain, so we worked quickly to evaluate possible back up plans that would bring in the least amount of financial burden on the client. We luckily were able to move the event inside the venue’s barn, which was just recently gutted out to be used as a new event space. Considering the couple did want an entire outdoor wedding and the fact that it did rain on the wedding day, this option looked intentional and the guests were amazed that the back-up plan was not the plan in place from the beginning.

Kathy and Edwin, what can I say? I love you two so much and am so HAPPY to have worked with you, see your families again, and watch you wed! And you both are now auntie and uncle to Ivy’s adorable daughter! So many happy moments that I am genuinely so thankful to continually see happening in your lives!

KIM & ANDREW - THE WEDDING!

A beautiful venue set atop the Malibu mountains, a couple that have been dating since high school and the most adorable maltipoo is exactly what makes Kim and Andrew’s wedding so special. Kim and Andrew met in high school and have been inseparable ever since, even though they lived hundreds of miles away (So Cal to Nor Cal). It was a dream to work with them on their colorful and FUN wedding event that took place at the picture-perfect Malibu Rocky Oaks estate.

The couple really wanted to make this wedding about their personal style and loves in their loves. The bride LOVES craft beer so having a craft beer tasting area was perfectly fitting. The bride’s father hand-built a custom installation to hold mini beer mugs that also were used for escort cards, while a laser-cut sign sat in front of the installation said it all– “Drunk in Love.” the couple was smitten over all things mini, and as such we had requested that all food items for cocktail hour and dessert would be made in mini portions: mini lobster rolls with mini Tabasco (made to perfection from Hungry Bear Catering), mini mini macarons and cupcakes and much more. Did we mention how FUN this couple was? During the grand entrance the couple walked in with a money gun that spit out REAL dollar bills (this happened multiple times during the evening, with each refill to be $100).

Kim and Andrew, you two are seriously TOO MUCH FUN! Your party stories, insane bachelorette and bachelor party and all your friends and family that made the wedding so memorable for all. Hoping to have random run-ins with you both at shabu and boba places! Thank you so much for allowing our team to be a part of your BIG DAY!
